Our Latest ...

We have been plugging along with our daily routine of school and normal life. My cousin got married in January at Black Butte in Sisters and we were able to rent a huge house with 5 families. It was so much fun!!! And also we had Quades Birthday and we poured the floor in Jordan's shop.

Austyn is still enjoying homeschooling. Although the new excitement of it has worn off for all of us I think. We have whittled it down to a little under 2 hours a day. Which is incredible!!! Austyn has a friend come over every Tuesday while her mom works and looks forward to that every week. But she is missing the rest of her friends and the social aspects of school. We will be starting our camping season soon, so that might help a bit for socializing with other kids a bit.

Quade is still loving school. He really enjoys history. His reading has come along really well this year. He is quite as social as Austyn and doesn't require as much friend time. But I do try to work in some play dates a couple times a month. No sports in sight yet, so it will be camping and riding quads and motorcycles around here. He is looking forward to summer when he can swim and fish again in the river.

Jordan just poured the floor to his shop. It turned out amazing as always. We are so thankful for the crew that comes and helps out. It's hard work and not very fun, but they seem to keep coming back for more. He is pretty pumped to get the lighting up and the wall up for his shop portion of the building. It will be so nice for him to finally have some space to work on stuff.

Nothing new with me, my cows are doing good. We just weaned the calves and locked the cows up for the winter so the pasture can start growing. I have one cow that will be calving in Aprilish we think. We are getting really excited about it. One extremely sad event happened last month. Andi bit a boy in the face and we had to put her down. It was one of the hardest things I think I've had to do. She had begun to get more and more aggressive over the years and we just couldn't take the risk of her doing it again or possibly disfiguring someone if she were to bite again. And she would have for sure continued to bite. I was really really upset for quite awhile but time heals most things and we are all much better now.

Hope you all are doing well. We can't wait for some warm dry weather so we can get outside and play!!

Concrete is poured and now just power troweling it for
hours and hours and hours.

Eight is GREAT...

Another COVID birthday celebrated. Quade turned 8! Quade has been looking forward to playing laser tag now that he's tall enough and old enough and of course EVERYTHING is closed. So we made a quick weekend camping trip to Florence for his Birthday. It was very nice. My parents and my brothers family joined us. The weather was pretty drizzly but nothing we couldn't handle. And on Quades actual birthday we poured concrete in our shop. I think it made for a memorable birthday for Quade. We had a ton of people over and also some kids for him to play with. He got his special birthday decorations and breakfast as usual and Papa's pizza for dinner. And got to open presents throughout the day as people came to see him and drop is gifts off.

Quade is in 2nd grade and currently homeschooling with me at home. I am blessed that he absolutely loves the curriculum I'm doing with him. I think this is one of the most rewarding things I've done as a mother. I'm so fortunate I get to homeschool the kids right now. Quade is a very entertaining kid and loves any kind of attention. He is very very interested in how everything works. He wants to understand how things are put together, why things happen, how to work things, and just how much he can push his mother before getting screamed at or slapped in the back of the head. I can barely believe my eyes as I've watched him grow the last 6 months. He has grown out of two complete wardrobes and every pair of shoes and socks he's had. It is amazing how fast he is growing. He loves to build things and anything "manly". He loves his time hunting with Jordan and really looks forward to summer when he can start fishing again with my dad and I. He is very very good at riding his quad and motorcycle too. He is very proficient at running most of the equipment around the house and is so so helpful at helping us with chores. The knowledge he has of things is incredible for his age. Although sometimes I have to check his knowledge with Google because he is notorious for telling Tall Tales. Quade is a lot like me in the social department. He enjoys playing with a few choice friends, but not too often. He mostly prefers to camp with his cousins and hangout with family. Something I appreciate, but Jordan has a hard time with sometimes. He has a very kind heart, especially if someone is hurt or sick. He will go above and beyond to make them happy or to do something special for them. He is so fortunate to have the amazing male role models he does in his life. I can't wait to see what he will do in life.

Happy Birthday QUADE!!!! We love you.
