Our Latest ...

  It seems like forever since my little man cub turned 3. But it was just two short months ago. And as usual we have been busy with all parts of life. We've had diets, testing, sickness, deaths, surprise births, birthdays, a couple quick trips, baseball, an early summer break, and much more I'm sure. 

  We had our annual Sweethearts Ball with Jordan's volunteer station in Junction. It is always one of those functions that is way too much fun and you're glad it's once a year. 

  This was the suit Jordan wore in high school when we were prince and princess of the Valentines dance. 

And I had to make sure I could still squeeze into my old dress👍🏻

  One thing Jordan and I got to do recently that was super amazing was going to Seattle and participate in the annual firefighter stairclimb. Jordan participated, I cheered for him. The stairclimb was amazing to experience and Jordan did outstanding. He got 78th out of 1900 participants. Like always he rocked it. The city was a different story though. Everyone was extremely rude, we've never had such bad service everywhere we went, no parking, super expensive, and a bit sketchy walking the streets at night. But it was an experience and I'm glad we got to go.

This year for St. Patricks Day I was in charge of crafts for Austyns school. It was so cute and I loved it. 

  We were able to make a quick camping trip to the coast over spring break. It was a perfect family trip. We stayed in Honeyman where we could ride our quads out of the campground onto the dunes. They had a nice playground, hiking trails, and endless roads for bike riding. I remember camping there when I was Austyns age. It was so fun to take our kids there now. Weather was great and Quade decided he wanted to ride ALL by himself on his quad. Best trip ever!! Besides the fact that Austyn had pink eye, strep throat, and a fever of 103 the whole time. She was an absolute trooper though. 

Looking back on these pictures and it seems like we are super bundled up. I guess it was pretty chilly, but I'm not picky about the weather I guess. As long as it's not pouring I'm game. We also got first hand experience of a real sneaker wave. It was so crazy. It was about a foot high and traumatized poor Quade. 

  Easter was our next event. This year was a bit out of the ordinary. We had to skip our family Easter because Austyn was still contagious and didn't want to spread our nasty germs. But we were able to get together a couple weeks later for Easter with Jordan's family. 

 And now for the biggest surprise, 5 baby goats. Unbeknownst to us two of our mama goats were pregnant. I won't get into the WHOLE story, but if you'd like a little reminder of why I did not want to bred our goats again refer to my post one year ago and refresh yourselves. So we had a set of twins and a set of triplets. The first set were born on their own. But the mama rejected one of the babies so I had to tube feed it for awhile. And we had to go hold the mama every time the baby needed to eat when it got strong enough to eat from the mama. She has to stay chained up in the field so the babies can actually get to her. Those babies are now one month old and super healthy. 

  The second set were triplets. They were from our oldest and dearest goat Fern. A couple days before she had the babies her hips gave out and she couldn't get around at all. She needed a little help during birthing. But they all came out fine and healthy. Unfortunately Fern took a turn for the worst and we had to tube her and have the vet out for numerous shots. We babied her and her babies for about a week and they finally all came around. We now have 11 goats! 

This one stayed in the house one day because I found it pretty much dead. I tubed it all day long and gave her medicine after medicine. She finally pulled out of it.

I do have to say that it was an absolute mind blowing experience to watch the entire birthing process. I know I was around the cattle doing this as I grew up, but I don't remember everything. And it's so much different since having my own children. The way the instincts just kick in is so neat. 

On a lighter note, Austyn tried out for a play and got the cutest part. Every year the Missoula Children's theater comes to the High School and puts on a play for a week. They travel all over the world doing this for schools. This year the play was Peter and Wendy. Austyn and her cousins were the clouds. It was the cutest thing I've seen. Of course I liked it more than the kids did, but she enjoyed herself and did super good (for a cloud).  

   It's been 3 years since we moved into our house. And like always we have an on going list of to-dos. Randomly Jordan and his brother Josh decided to do the shelving in our master closet. I've been wanting them since we moved in, but it was never really a priority or super pressing. What a wonderful thing to have done. I love just walking into the closet and looking at everything so neat and tidy. Those boys are so talented.

Right now Jordan is hot and heavy in his Officers Development Program. His next test is coming up in June. Every spare minute he gets he has his nose stuck in a book. His team won the Firefighter Fitness challenge we were doing. Each of the 5 team members got $500!!!!!! Can you believe that?! They did so good. Jordan turned 30 in April. He wasn't too excited for 30 to roll around but he has gotten use to it. 

Austyn has turned over a new leaf lately. She has suddenly gotten this strange bust of courage. She took the training wheels of her bike and has never been so proud of herself. She hasn't ever been passionate about anything like riding her bike without training wheels. She learned so fast it was amazing. Of course we had to take her to town and big parking lots for her to practice. One of the downfalls of country living. No concrete! That's all she wants to do now is ride her bike. And another suprise we got was an early summer break!!! Her teacher had some terrible back issues and was forced to quit teaching. She will be one of those teachers that will never be able to top.  I'm so bummed Quade won't be able to have her as a teacher. But maybe she faked it so she could dodge the Quade bullet😉 We are loving our extended summer break. All the other parents were so upset about school being over. But Austyn and I were jumping with joy! Austyn is also playing T-ball now. It is so much fun to watch. They are beginning to get the concept and work together. She absolutely loves baseball too. I'm so surprised at her. She usually goes to a practice or two and wants to be done. But she is always looking forward and excited about the next game. 

She also has gotten this weird interest in animals. Before she was terrified of even the smallest dog or cat. And now she is cleaning and filling KODAs water and giving her treats, and I caught her on her knees loving all over KODA one day. I'm not sure what caused this switch but I'll take it. As always she's so thoughtful and kind. But recently she has been testing us with a few little lies here and there. It's usually over food and if she's washed behind her ears in the bathtub😂😂😂. The things a 5 year old has to lie about. Cracks me up. She is learning and learning fast that consequences aren't a fun thing. As much as it hurts to disapline her, I love to watch how fast she learns from her mistakes. She has always been one of those kids that you just tell one time ans she gets it. She's simply amazing. 

Quade thought he would be big and brave too and take his training wheels off. But it lasted a day and then they went right back on. Not quite ready. But very very soon. He has become a very good quad rider. He rides all by himself and is super controlled and listens to all the rules. Completely different kid on his quad. He must know that mistakes on a quad will hurt. And he also has been having some major issues with his right leg. He started complaint about his leg back in December. It was just every morning and I past it off as growing pains. Then it was every morning and when he got up from his nap. He slowly began to limp on it after he got up. Then he would complain during the day. And now it so bad he can't walk after he does any kind of exercise like riding his bike or jumping on the trampoline. He's had X-rays and nothing was found. So we are now going to a specialist to see what's going on. It breaks my heart to see his leg give out. Hopefully it's something very commen and simple to fix. Cross your fingers for him please! Quade starts his T-ball tomorrow. He is super excited to have his own team and have his cousin Luke play with him. He's going to love it. 

And as for me, I'm still keeping strong on my diet and workouts. I've started going to physical therapy twice a week now. I've started lifting and have progressed pretty quickly. It's basically like a personal trainer twice a week. I love it. And I try to either go to the gym or walk with my Mom on the other days. I have really found the exercise to be helpful in all aspects of my life. I'm really looking to make it a lifestyle change for myself. I had an amazing Mothers Day. Jordan got me a spa day on Friday and then today I was able to chose what we did. I find it funny that my one desire for today was to stay home and trim up all of trees around the house, clean the house, and plant my flowers. My ideal day is for all of us to be home doing little projects and for the kids to be running around playing. It was the perfect day. I'm so thankful for being a Mom to the two best kids. And really I could go up the line thanking parents and Grandparents for being the ones who are responsible for making everything possible. The incredible family values we have on both sides is truely amazing and I'm so fortunate to be the product of that. I just hope I can continue in foots steps before me. 

We have a very exciting trip coming up, CABO!!!!!!!!!!! Jordan and I are going to Cabo in June for 5 days. We are going with 6 other couples from his fire department. I'm getting really excited. It's going to be soooooo much fun. We don't have anything planned but relaxing. It's all inclusive so that part is going to be pretty cool. Can't wait to see what Cano is all about. And I'm super excited to be able to spend so much time with Jordan. 

On a much much sadder note, Jordan's Grandpa passed away. He had been battling cancer for a few years. He was able to be at home with all his loved ones when he decided to move on. He was an amazing man and taught Jordan so much. He will be forever missed. 

That might be a record breaking blog post for length. And that's just two months worth. We  have baseball, Memorial Day camping trip, and Cabo to look forward to. Hope all is well with everyone. 

  

Look At Me I'm 3 ...

  Holy smokes I can't believe Quade is 3 now! It went by so so fast. As I scrolled back through his last years Birthday blog I quickly remembered how painfully SLOW some of the stages had actually passed by. I can happily report that Quade's temper and fit problems have substantially improved. He has replaced those less than desirable traits with an amazing amount of BOY traits. Rough, tough, LOUD, fast, clever, independent, loves anything with a motor, loves hunting and guns, knives, working on rigs with Jordan, getting dirty, being naked, eating a ton, determined, and anything else that screams boy he is it. He's my last baby and to be completely honest I miss those baby days sometimes. Both kids were incredibly easy babies which always has left me with a sweet spot in my heart for more babies. Don't get me wrong, I am NOT having anymore kids. But if someone were to give me a baby I would accept in a heartbeat. 

  On a normal day you can expect to find Quade in nothing but his undies, with either a gun, knife, or some sort of rig in his hand. He will most definitely go on numerous "hunting" trips a day, whether it be bear, cougar, wolf, elk, deer, or buffalo. And you can be sure that some how you'll get at least one bruise from him within a 24 hour period (one bruise is a good day:) ). The second his feet hit the floor he is asking for breakfast and if he had his way, he would have Coco Puffs for every meal. Most mornings while eating breakfast he gets attacked by his imaginary friend Judy the baby bear. Judy is a boy bear that randomly tackles Quade to the ground and wrestles him. Judy also bites and does all the naughty things that a certain 3 year old might normally do. Me: "Please pick up all the toys before we leave?" Quade:"I didn't get them out, Judy did!" It's hysterical. He has the biggest imagination and it is very impressive to watch. Quade is also a non-stop chatter box. If you ever get the pleasure of being confined in a car with him, you can be sure that you will not be able to get a word in. And on that note, with his entertainment from the backseat you can be sure to miss a few turns on the errands you were suppose to be running. Quade has a very very very high energy level (thank you Jordan). With that said, he goes non-stop from morning until bedtime. With a brief nap in the middle. He still has a small amount of cuddle left in him. And I try to soak up every tiny second of cuddles I can, because in one more blink he won't want me to cuddle with him at all. He has one more year left with me at home before he starts preschool. I can't imagine my days without him home with me. I signed him up for Tiny Tigers baseball this spring. He is so excited. I'm sure he will have no trouble playing any kind of sports. Quade is adamit about being a boy. He's not pretty, he's not cute, HE IS AWESOME!!!! If he draws a picture and I say it's pretty, he quickly corrects me with "No Mommy, it's awesome!" Or if he gets a haircut it looks "AWESOME", not cute. Gotta love him!

  It's been a real eye opener to watch the second kid grow up. Quade has always had a built in best friend, teacher, victim of his "Quade Ways", and competitor. Even though he relentlessly tortures her, he adores her every breath. He looks to her for guidance, explainations, and reassurance. When they play together it makes my heart so happy. I hope that they will have a very close and comfortable relationship like my brother and I had and still do to this day. 

  I'm so thankful for the way Quade has completed our crazy little family. He adds a sort of spark and flare wherever he goes. My biggest wish for Quade is for him to be as successful, knowledgable, honest, helpful, and strong as his Daddy (amoung many other wonderful traits). With that said, I think he has the determination, drive, foresight, and potential to do just that and even more.

  Thank you for being you, and being my little man. I love you so much. Keep doing what you're doing. Life wouldn't be the same without you.

Christmas and The New Year . . .

  Christmas was so much fun this year with the kids. They thought everything was so magical. We had fun getting the tree this year. We initially went up into the woods to cut down a wild authentic Christmas tree. Then quickly came to our senses and decided to get a nicely groomed tree. The kids both helped Jordan out putting the lights on and then decorated the whole tree themselves. It was amazing! They worked together and used a step ladder to get the high spots. It was our best Christmas tree yet. Our Christmas light outing was a bit disappointing. I'm amazed at how many people don't decorate for Christmas. It's so sad. The kids both got a Gingerbread house to build. And Austyn brought home the cutest ornaments she'd made from school. We had a couple Christmas parties that were super fun. But I think my favorite memory of this Christmas was when we went to visit Santa and Austyn said in her sweet little voice, "Santa, may you please bring me a surprise!?" His eyes were so shocked and you could just tell that she had made his day. Like always, the kids as well as Jordan and I got completely spoiled. 

We went whale watching a week ago and weren't able to see any. But we had an amazing day anyways with my Dad and GG. GG treated us to a trip to the Sea Lion caves. It was so much fun. We went to lunch and the. Stopped by a beach for a few minutes. It was such a beautiful day. 

We also took a quick trip to the snow. It was also a beautiful day. We were able to just be in our sweatshirts. We had a picnic and just had a laid back time. 

  Austyn has been doing really well in school. Her reading has come so far, so quickly. I love watching her learn. She got to go to a retirement home to sing Christmas songs to the patients. And also went to a Church service and caroled as well with her Kindergarten class. It was so cute to see. She lost another tooth. Jordan was home this time and thankfully helped her out. Pulling teeth is like nails on a chaulk board to me. She is getting so big. I still can't believe what a great little girl she is. I can always trust her to tell the truth and have great manners. I'm thinking of putting her in swim lessons soon. She loves swimming and I know she would enjoy it. 

  Quade got really into Christmas this year. It was so sweet. He's loving all his new toys. He got guns, tools, knives, trucks, flashlights, hunting gear, and a bicycle. He is still on cloud nine. His tall tales have gotten even taller and he is just a kick to watch. He's absolutely an amazing boy. His new talent is to work on rigs with Jordan. He has his own creeper and Jordan gives him his own tools. It melts my heart. 

  Jordan started his Officer Development Program (ODP) as of the first of this month. So it will be like his Engineers program all over again. YAY!!!! He will do amazing. I have no doubt in my mind. As always he has a list a mile long of projects to do. He has also started the Firefighter Fitness Challenge again. He's always busy with something. 

  And as for me, I've never been so excited about a New Year before. I'm doing the fitness challenge as well. And with that, am super excited to see what I can do to my body in 3 months. I've also been going to the physical therapist again for my back. It was just constantly getting weaker and weaker. So Jordan finally made me an appointment with the lady he was using. She's amazing. And it's also fun that she's treating both of us. I've seen an improvement with my back, so that's encouraging. I'm really focusing on my health this year. I'm at a point to where if I don't take care of a few things, my future health will be not so awesome. So in as unselfish as I can, I'm going to try and focus this year on me. So I can be a healthier, better mom and wife for my family. 

  I hope everyone's Christmas and New Years was awesome. This year is going to be the absolute best!!

Surprise . . .

  So my loving husband decided to give me a surprise party for my 30th! Even though he knows, as well as everyone else, that I hate attention and big crowds. I thought it was very thoughtful of him to do that for me. We went Christmas shopping earlier in the day and then went to a movie. After that we headed home where I would find a garage full of family and friends! It was such a shocker and such a great feeling to have so many people come on my account. 

  I'm fully embracing being 30. Although it's just a number, I feel really good about it. My 20's were wonderful, as every age has been for me. But looking back I'm able to see how much I've learned about life and how much I didn't know. I'm in the prime of my life and I couldn't be happier with myself and where I'm at in life. I love that I'm able to stay home with the kids. I love that we live so close to family. I love that I went to school for something, finished, and worked in that field (although for only a short amount of time). I love all the struggles and bumps I've had along the way. I'm most grateful for those hard times because I feel like they allow me to be more thankful and appreciative for the things that come a little easier. I've really been reflecting on getting older lately and I think that I've learned the most from my parents and my kids. My kids have shaped and molded me more than I ever thought possible. I can say that before I had kids I had a quick temper and a very low patience level. I can now say that I am so laid back and patient because of my kids. I love the new me. I've had numerous comments made by acquaintance I randomly come across how much I've changed. Funny what these kids do to you. Hopefully one day they will understand that and have the same positive effects with their own kids. And not to say I haven't learned or looked up to other people throughout my life. But my Dad is one who stands out in my mind. I admire his work ethic and family values. He seems so wise to me and knowledgeable about everything. He is one of the most true people I know. I remember thinking that I wanted to find a husband as close to my Dad as I can. I hit the jackpot with Jordan. I just hope that Quade turns out to be like these very special and rare men in my life. My poor mom. Poor poor mom. What you had to go through those crazy couple years in high school. I hope to be as calm and wise as you when my kids go through those years. Looking back now, I can only imagine how you felt inwardly. But you always seemed so together and with it, when Chad and I had our bone head moments. Thank you for setting such a great example of how I want to be for my kids. 

  I can't wait to see what the future holds in the next 10 years. I just know it will be even greater than the last. Thank you to everyone who has had a part in my life, good or bad. Happy 30th Birthday to me!

Mimication...

  Lone Pine came to an end and the boys took off for Elk Hunting. So my Mom took the kids and I on a trip to the coast. The kids called it a "Mimication". We left Thursday after Austyn got done with school and headed over to Driftwood shores. When we got there we were informed that the pool was closed 😩. So we decided to head up the coast to Newport and see if we could find something similar there. We hit the jackpot! We stayed at The Halmark. It was absolutely amazing. It had a fireplace in the room and an amazing restaurant attached to the hotel. We had room service for dinner that night. It was soooo much fun! We swam and watched movies and had popcorn. The next day we played on the beach, went to the aquarium, walked down town Newport in our t-shirts, then headed back to Driftwood Shores for a night. We played on the beach forever since the weather was absolutely perfect and then went to the pool. They have the best kids swimming pool. Quade and Austyn had so much fun. It was such a great time going with my Mom and finally getting to relax and hang out with her after a long Lone Pine season. 

  The boys had a successful yet disappointing trip. They got an elk, but couldn't find it until the next day and the meat was bad by the time they tried cutting it up. It was so sad. 

  Austyn has started reading! It's so exciting to see the excitement in her eyes. It was amazing to see the moment when it clicked in her brain that she could read. And we've been readin non-stop ever since. So so cool. She picked up my Christmas list for the kids and started sounding the words out. It caught me by surprise as I ripped it out of her hand. Nothing is sacred anymore. 

  Quade is a crazy man. He is more boy than the last time I wrote a blog about him being incredibly all boy. He loves watching Old Yeller, he even says that he is the little boy in the movie. He creates the most imaginable stories lately. He is loving all things with wheels or guns and weapons. He has the most incredible amount of energy. 

  Jordan is doing No Shave November, so he has a nasty mustache right now. He works Thanksgiving this year, so we will be spending Thanksgiving at my Aunts and then go visit him at the fire station. Since Lone Pine is over Jordan has had a few spare moments here and there to finish up unfinished projects that have been waiting for him. He made Quade an amazing shelf for all this toys. And he helped me with a clock. He is working on organizing the garage right now. Seems like things just pile up a lot easier in a small space. We are use to the nice big shop at our old place. Jordan found an amazing deal on some fill dirt for our future shop site. We had hundreds of truck loads delivered and it looks awesome. We are so excited to be on the path of building a shop. It probably won't be for a couple years, but it's a start. Jordan's back is all better now. He is continuing physical therapy just to get proper body mechanics and continue his core strengthening. 

  As for me, I'm preparing to turn "30" in a couple weeks! Can't believe it. I'm loving the idea of being "30". Jordan on the other hand is struggling with the fact that he will be 30 in a few short months. It cracks me up. I had such a great time with the kids over Halloween. I'm so excited for Christmas with them! Jordan has me going to his same physical therapist for my back. My back has continually gotten weaker over the last year. I get so use to the pain because it's so gradual that I don't notice it until I really think about it. So I'm working on that at the moment. I found out that my pelvic floor has completely stopped working and the strength in my hips are a 2 out of 5. Not good. So I've got a lot of work to do. I'm not excited about the process, but it's time to start feeling better. Other than that, everything is going great as usual. Very thankful for our amazing life and that we are blessed in every way imaginable. I'm very excited for Christmas!!!

Happy Halloween ...

  That's right, it's corn maze time! We LOVE this time of year. And we LOVE the time we spend at Lone Pine. Jordan is doing the maze again at nights and runs around during the day like a crazy man. Doing everything that needs to be done. Again our house looks like we have our own pumpkin patch from countless times going on the tractor rides. The kids have really enjoyed the night time action this year. We have our routine for the evenings. We eat dinner, put the goats away, Quade puts his mask on and gets his chainsaw and scares the people waiting in line, Austyn helps take tickets at the front, and Quade and I head into the haunted maze to play around. Quade loves loves loves the haunted maze. He thinks it is so funny when people get scared. I have gotten a few comments about not being the most responsible parent for having him in there, but it's different when he sees the behind the scenes stuff all year round. Oh well I guess.

  We had a costume birthday party last weekend so the kids got to try out their costumes. They loved it. So cute!

  For Halloween this year we are going to make our usual rounds and then Trick-or-Treat with his brothers family in their neighborhood. Jordan will have to take off early to go to the maze, so I will finish up with the kids in town and then head to the maze for the last night. 

  This Halloween season has been the most amazing year yet with the kids. We've done bobbing for apples, decorated (painting) pumpkins, decorated Halloween cupcakes, Halloween Jello jigglers, carved pumpkins, watched Halloween movies, read Halloween books, decorated the house, built a spooky gingerbread village, and we've dressed up Halloweeny as much as we possibly can. I also got to make cute little spider cookies for Austyns Harvest party at her school. 

  Austyn just finished her soccer season. She really enjoyed it. The group of kids and parents were a blast. She is excelling in school. I can't believe how fast she learns things. She really likes school and the kids that are in her class. Austyn was sick for a whole week with a nasty stomach bug which caused her to miss school that week. Her teacher is so amazing, she came to our house to give Austyn a get well present. I can't say enough about this teacher. She is truely amazing.

  Quade is more amazing than ever. He is a non-stop chatter box. He tells the most imaginative stories. He is totally into anything gun, sword, knife, tools, or anything with wheels on it. He is in a super hero stage right now and has to always wear his cape. Picture him in his undies and cape running around the house with some sort of weapon in his hand yelling like a mad man. That is what Quade does 24-7. If he's not in the house doing that he's outside in his undies, cape, and rubber boots climbing on something. He is such a boy it blows my mind. My family and I have to laugh because even though we didn't know Jordan when he was Quades age, we KNOW they are exactly the same. It's so much fun watching Quade learn from Austyn. He watches her and picks up on everything. 

Quade got these ear pieces that look like spoons. He thought they were amazing.

  Jordan's back finally got better. He is back to his normal schedule. He still goes to physical therapy once a week and tries to be careful with his back. He still has days where it is pretty tender. He was in charge of proctoring the testing for the engineers program while he was on light duty. He did such a good job that they are hiring him to come test people when they need help. He really likes it. He is also getting ready to go elk hunting next week. He will be gone for 5 days I think. Now that he's back on his normal work schedule he is enjoying a little time off during the week. He did 6 weeks of a 9-5 schedule with Lone Pine on the weekends, so needless to say he was a little burnt out. It's nice to see him once and a while. 

  And as for me, I have never felt so happy or complete in my entire life. The kids are at perfect ages to make everything we do fun. I feel like a real mom lately. I've brought snacks to soccer games, and all the fun crafty Halloween stuff we've been doing has just made my heart so happy. The kids can really participate and get into the projects. I've never really gotten into Halloween before, but this year is different. I love to see the kids light up with excitement when we put up a new decoration or do something crafty. I am so thankful for the opportunities we have and are able to give to the kids. I couldn't imagine any better of a life than the one we have. I get so excited looking a head to Christmas and how much fun it's going to be with the kids. I can't wait. I thank God every day for the blessings in my life. 

  I think that's about it for now. Elk hunting is the only thing we have planned in the near future. Have a safe a yummy Halloween!
